Daddy its just a toy!
Urrggh! I honestly don't know which I loathe more, toy guns or water spitting toy guns? I suppose we could excuse water spitters when they are used on sunny days like we seldom have in Manchester. As for guns as toys, we sort of quietly forbid them in our house mainly because we are careful not to glorify violence and frankly speaking, the police don't like the mix of guns and melanin, neither do I. Press rewind to when I picked my son from school and the unimpressed look on my face as I found the toy gun in a party pack he had been given. Few minutes later, we are persuading him to desist from dousing the TV and the Sofa. As he sleeps peacefully, I find myself plotting : "where do I hide this thing?" Lanre Olabode
